Does a domain name establish trademark rights?
A domain purchase or store account is not trademark clearance. Search for similar marks and assess your goods or services before spending on packaging or advertising. IP India's guidance explains that registration offers stronger statutory protection, while unregistered marks may have common-law protection.
What should I decide about the mark?
Identify who will own it, whether you need word or logo protection, the relevant goods/service classes and whether use has already begun. Keep evidence supporting a claimed use date. Registration is an examination process, not a promise that any chosen name will be accepted.
Are marketplace and GST requirements the same question?
No. A platform's onboarding or brand programme can impose separate commercial requirements. GST depends on the supply model and applicable provisions, including conditional relief for some marketplace goods suppliers. Confirm the platform's current rules directly; this guide does not state Amazon, Flipkart or Meesho's current onboarding policy.
